Obama weighs in on UFO talk - 31st May 2021

It’s usually considered unwise to talk about unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, in public. However, they have suddenly become a mainstream conversation topic.

Barack Obama was recently asked about the issues of UFOs in an interview. Surprisingly, he confirmed that “footage and records” of unidentified objects exist.

Other famous people have also given their views on UFOs, which are more usually a topic for conspiracy theorists. Basketball star Shaquille O’Neal claims to have seen a UFO, and right-wing news commentators are hosting whole shows on the topic.

A former UK Ministry of Defence investigator, Nick Pope, believes UFOs should be seriously investigated. He stresses that UFOs should be “taken seriously as a defence and national security issue”.

The soaring interest in UFOs stems from a recent TV programme which investigated the US government’s claims. ‘60 Minutes’ interviewers questioned a number of credible witnesses, including a former navy pilot who said he had seen UFOs “every day for at least a couple of years”.

This initiated Obama’s discussion on UFOs. “What is true, and I’m actually being serious here, is that there’s footage and records of objects in the skies, that we don’t know exactly what they are, we can’t explain how they moved,” he told CBS.

The US defence department and intelligence agencies are soon to provide Congress with an official report on UFO sightings. The report follows the release of three videos that have UFOs by the Pentagon. It will now share with the public what it knows about UFOs and the findings from all close encounters.
