Clear winners in UK election - 16th December 2019
On Friday 13th December, the UK General Election results came in. Boris Johnson and the Conservative Party won a solid victory.
Boris Johnson: "As the nation hands us this historic mandate, we must rise to the challenge and the level of expectations."
The leader of the Labour Party is Jeremy Corbyn. He said the result was a disaster for Labour.
Jeremy Corbyn: "This is obviously a very disappointing night for the Labour Party with the result that we've got."
Boris Johnson went to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace. The Queen asked him to form a new government.
He went back to Number 10 Downing Street, which is the Prime Minister's house. His main priority is to sort out Brexit.
Boris Johnson: "And with this mandate and this majority we will at last be able to do what?"
Audience: "Get Brexit done."
