Dubai swings to new heights

The coronavirus has stopped people from travelling to foreign places. But theme park lovers may want to visit Dubai soon. Bollywood Parks has just created the highest swing ride in the world. Milton D’Souza is the manager there.

Milton D’Souza: "Standing at 460 feet tall, Bollywood Skyflyer is the tallest swing ride. It outbeat the Orlando one which stood at 450 feet, so right now this is as tall as the Pyramid of Giza."

Covid meant that theme parks everywhere had to shut for many months. The staff at Bollywood Parks decided to make use of this time. They’ve updated the rides. They’ve created 9 new ones. The Bollywood Skyflyer is one of them. This was a huge challenge.

Milton D’Souza: "It is something that has taken us quite some time to build, it took 600 days – another 120 days to install this ride. It has 421 tonnes of steel and that's how we achieved the world record."

Several new rides are going to be opened soon. The Dubai government hopes to modernise all of its theme parks. In 2019, 2.6 million visitors enjoyed their rides. It’s hoped this number will increase. Anastagia was among the first people to experience the ride.

Anastagia: "It's interesting, it’s, you, you see the, the whole city – so it's really freshing and it's really a lot of fun, I really recommend this."
